Lights, Gaming, Action!

We have acquired a rather large number of APA102 LED (Also known as DotStar) strips that we plan on using to add some lighting effects to the LAN. We have a couple of basic controllers such as a magic LED, Arduino Uno, and Raspberry PI, able to do some neat effects and such, but 1 effect has eluded us. We would like to have the LEDS produce effects based on audio input. There are loads of examples for how to do this with older style LEDS, but nothing for these new ones, and thus far with my limited arduino knowledge and coding abilities i have been unable to port over existing code to use the new LEDS. If any of you have any experience with this or wanna take a crack at it let us know.

Here is an excellent example of what we'd like to do, sadly this device isnt compatible with APA102s
